Overview

Our studies in electricity will be practical in nature. You will learn about electricity and electronic parts by experimenting with them rather than by listening to lecture.

We will begin our study by studying the nature of voltage and current and the relationship between them and we will end by constructing a class project such as a radio receiver or an infrared communications network. In between will be several individual and small group projects.

It is the responsibility of each student to keep a portfolio of their lab work for each part of the unit. This portfolio will include not only the student's data and graphs, but also explanations about the principles which each mini-lab portrays. The portfolio will be due a few days after the part of the unit is finished.

Assessment for this unit will include tests and quizzes, both written and oral, as well as the portfolio.
