- For the following word problems, first translate the words into algebra, then solve the equations.
Two metal castings weigh a total of 110 pounds. One of the castings weighs 35 pounds more than the other. How much does each one weigh?
Two bottles must have a total capacity of 8 liters. If one bottle needs to be three times the size of the other, how many liters does each hold?
